It was quite some time ago that we decided to build a house. Shortly thereafter we found a land for sale near Vänern and we knew immediately that this was where we wanted to build our dream home. Everything went through, and in June 2014 we were the proud owners of 2600 sqm land only 60 meters away from the water. We wanted to start building right away but it was not exactly how it went down. Life happened. We got engaged and got married in September and spent all the time on planning our dream wedding instead. But we have no regrets cause it was magical.
After that the thoughts about our house started to spin again and we started talking to Myresjöhus about everything. The choice to build with them was obvious for us. We met long ago at the Home and Villa fair where we talked to all sorts of companies and especially those who we wanted to work with (at that time it was Fiskarhedenvillan but we were quite disappointed after the poor service we received at the fair and we really did not click). We started talking to others with Myresjöhus being in the mix and we fell in love with some of their houses. When the choice was clear it was time to make a harder choice – what kind of house do we want to build?
It was not easy at all. We walked a little in all directions - split level, 1.5-storey house, New England, country-house style and so on. It took really long time but we found what we thought was something for us. Then we started to fuss and redraw, modify, regret, change again - well you know how it usually is.
I can say it was one of the hardest but the most fun thing we have ever done. And it feels so unreal that this is the end of all the decisions - we're done!
Our house is a mixture of Milton and Bastad with high ceilings, large kitchen and living room, 3 bedrooms, office, living room, 2 bathrooms, laundry room and a small walking closet. We wanted to get a great deal of the west coast feeling but also have a house that will fit our area. And I think we succeeded. Now that all the papers are inscribed must finally begin to long for real.
